TISS report reveals 41% Maths teachers lack expertise in the subject – Times of India
NEW DELHI: The Centre of Excellence in Teacher Education (CETE) at Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) on Thursday released a report titled “Right Teacher for Every Child: State of Teachers, Teaching, and Teacher Education Report 2023” emphasising the availability and deployment of teachers, the research conducted in eight states across India reveals that 35 to 41 percent of mathematics teachers in both government and private schools lacked mathematics as a subject at the undergraduate level and were involved with teaching the subject.More than half the teachers in primary classes (Class 1-5) in schools across the country don’t have the ...
