CBSE opposes PIL seeking common syllabus: Says not suitable for India’s diverse population

  NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has opposed a petition challenging specific provisions of the 2009 Right to Education Act, deeming them “arbitrary, irrational, and in violation of the law.” The petition seeks to instruct the Centre to establish a uniform syllabus and curriculum for students from Class 1 to 8 nationwide.In response to a PIL (Public Interest Litigation) filed by lawyer and BJP leader Ashwini Upadhyay, the CBSE clarified that education falls within the ‘Concurrent List’ of the Indian Constitution.
