Need for meticulous assessment during practical examinations in schools – CBSE

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released an important advisory to affiliated schools, urging them to thoroughly review their internal assessment procedures. This recommendation comes after a noteworthy disparity was found between the marks awarded for theory and practical exams in certain subjects among over 50 of the students.

The CBSE board mentioned that the detection of these variations was made possible through the utilization of sophisticated artificial intelligence (AI) tools. This signifies a significant advancement in the board’s approach to identifying irregularities in examination processes.

According to the board’s official notice, these variations were observed in approximately 500 affiliated schools based on past years’ result statistics. The board said this highlighted the need for meticulous assessment during practical examinations in schools.

The observed difference emphasizes the importance of thorough evaluation during practical exams in schools. Consequently, the Board has issued an advisory to such schools to review their internal assessment procedures,” CBSE secretary Himanshu Gupta said, as reported by PTI.
