The Union government has sought help from states to ensure free and fair conduct of central entrance examinations, according to a report in Indian Express. The Centre has requested the states to deploy one civil and one police observer for each exam centre during the exams in future. The Centre’s request follows controversies over the alleged irregularities during the NEET-UG 2024 test and the cancellation of the UGC-NET examination over paper leak claims. CHANDIGARH: The state government informed the assembly on Wednesday that by March, no government school in Punjab will have a single or no teachers. Before the Bhagwant Mann dispensation took over in March 2022, 3,500 state-run schools were either teacherless or working with a single teacher, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said during Question Hour on the final day of the assembly’s two-day session.“Now, the number of such schools is less than 600.
