The Education Ministry informed the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday that the number of Indian students studying abroad has increased by 52.2% over the past five years. Of the 892,989 Indian students abroad, the largest number were in the United States (234,473 students), followed by Canada (233,532) and the United Kingdom (136,921).
