The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued a notice to all higher education institutions asking them to refrain from admitting foreign nationals into open and distance learning (ODL) programmes. The notice highlighted the eligibility criteria specified in UGC regulations Annexure III that only students residing in India are eligible for enrolment in ODL programs. The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has announced the university will accept the scores of the National Eligibility Test (NET) instead of the National Testing Agency (NTA) entrance test as the selection criteria for admission to its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programs from the current academic session, i.e. Academic Year 2024-25. University Grant Commission Chairman M. Jagadesh Kumar on Monday announced that the normalisation of scores for the Common University Entrance Test-UG (CUET-UG) and the National Eligibility Test (NET) is being done away with from this year, news agency PTI reported. CUET UG 2024: The official last date for online submission of the application for the Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduate courses (CUET UG 2024), as declared by National Testing Agency (NTA), is tomorrow i.e April 5. NEW DELHI: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has decided that starting from the academic session 2024-25, PhD admissions can utilize National Eligibility Test (NET) scores. This decision aims to streamline the admission process under the National Education Policy, eliminating the need for multiple entrance exams.
