Delhi: Getting your child enrolled in any school in Delhi has its own set of difficulties. In addition to the already existing admission criteria and award points set by various schools, the Directorate of Education (DoE) has now instructed schools to ‘ensure strict admission procedures’. The DoE’s latest circular mandates that all schools, including government, government-aided, and non-aided recognised private schools in Delhi must carry out ‘thorough documentation’ and ‘implement greater scrutiny’ during admission. Goenka Paschim Vihar, Doon Public School Paschim Vihar, and Brilliant’s Convent School Pritampura, received bomb threats via email. According to reports, calls from GD Goenka and DPS R.K. Puram was made at 6:15 a.m. and 7:06 a.m., respectively. Delhi-NCR pollution: The air quality in the National Capital Region (NCR) has remained hazardous for nearly a month. However,it improved from the ‘severe’ to the ‘very poor’ category on Sunday morning. At 8 am, the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 357, falling under the ‘very poor’ category, compared to the 24-hour average AQI of 412 at 4 pm on Saturday, according to the Central Pollution Control Board. However, Anand Vihar remained in the ‘severe’ category with an AQI of 404. The Haryana Government has issued an order for the temporary closure of schools up to Class 5 due to rising air pollution. The Directorate of School Education has sent a letter to all District Deputy Commissioners, stating that, given the severe AQI levels in Delhi and surrounding regions, the directorate should issue necessary directions to conduct online classes for students up to Class 5 in both government and private schools, in the interest of students’ health and safety.The order reads, ‘The government has decided that the concerned Deputy Commissioners shall assess the prevailing situation (as per the GRAP) in view ...
