A holiday has been declared for schools in 35 districts of Uttar Pradesh on October 28 and 29 as the UP PET (Preliminary Eligibility Test) 2023 are scheduled to be held on these dates. This preventive action has been taken in light that some of the institutions in the 35 districts would serve as designated exam centres for the UP Preliminary Eligibility Test 2023.  The UP PET examination is being conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UPSSSC). To ensure quality education to school students of in India, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment launched its new programme,‘Scheme for Residential Education for Students in High Schools in Targeted Areas’ (SHRESHTA).  Under this scheme, students of Scheduled Castes (SC) will be provided with high quality school education by different method. Guidelines for foreign universities to set up their campuses in India to be notified soon said Education and Skill Development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. In an interview with PTI, the Education Minister said, “We are going to make a paradigm shift. So, we will go ahead after exploring all possibilities and clearing all doubts. The Australian government on October 2 stated that it is going to take strict measures to combat international student visa scams, reported IANS. State Bank of India (SBI), the largest bank in India, will close the extended application process for Probationary Officers (PO) recruitment 2023 on October 3, 2023. Previously, the application deadline was September 27. The recruitment drive is to fill up a total of 2,000 posts in the government run lender, the SBI said in the notification. Eligible candidates who are yet to apply can submit their forms on sbi.co.in. The recruitment process will be held in three Phase viz. (i) Phase-I; (ii) Phase-II; and (iii) Phase-III. An Indian woman aged 92 went to school for the first time and has learned how to read and write. Salima Khan, the great-grandmother was born in around 1931 and was married at the age of 14. She had a lifelong dream of being able to read and write. The number of Indian test takers for Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) to pursue secondary education and certifications abroad has seen a gradual rise over the years, said a report by PTI citing data from the Educational Testing Service (ETS). Those taking the TOEFL test for immigration purpose has fallen, said the Princeton-based ETS, which conducts the TOEFL and Graduate Record Examination (GRE), as per the report.
